{Go girl} How do you say no?
Christmas time. The excitement of social gatherings galore. The pursuit of perfect gifts for your nearest and dearest. Feeling inspired to at least attempt getting creative in making your own Christmas pudding/mince pies/mulled wine (insert as applicable). Perfecting the appropriate sentiment in dozens of Christmas cards. Oh, and the art of making your home a cosy, welcoming space to entertain and, given half the chance, relax on those wintry nights.
Is it just me, though, or does the pace take just a little of the enjoyment out of it?
Stop.
What do you WANT to do?
WHO do you want to share it with?
Make your choice to spend this oh-so-precious time how YOU want to spend it. For me...
... finding and decorating a real Christmas tree. Ahhh, the scent of fir-tree and hot mulled wine, I can smell it now!
... entertaining our fabulous friends this weekend with a little festive shindig.
... family times to celebrate Christmas and bring in the new year.
... a make-my-heart-soar carol concert is definitely on the must-do list.
... plenty of I'm-too-old-for-this traditions (you're never to old to put out a carrot for Rudolph are you?)
... my first Christmas as a wifelet!

{Romance} Tiffany-inspired romance
My Tiffany obsession grows. As an old romantic, I adore anything that echoes the romance of yesteryear and Tiffany's latest ad campaign oozes glamour and l-o-v-e love.
It feels like an intrusion - as the hustle and bustle of New York's soundtrack plays out below, our couple share a moment, comfortable in each others silence and dwarfed by the city, though the only ones in it.
This photograph is just dreamy...

{inspiration} the graceful bride
I'm still swooning over the romance of yesterday's wedding and completely smitten with Kate Middleton's bridal look - dreamy, romantic and utterly graceful.

{Romance} Wedding stationery-fest
With less than five months to go, I've started to feel the pressure of the many things that I need to organise for our September wedding - invitations and stationery being the most pressing. It's nearly time to get those invites out!!! Here's my research....
My moodboard: our 'midnight romance' colour-scheme, the in-keeping chandeliers at our reception venue, glamorous sapphire and diamond ring, and the icon of art deco romance - New York's Chrysler Building.
These Charles Reckie Mackintosh-inspired invitations by Laura K Design, also found at Ruffled Blog, ooze glamour
So simple. Stationery by Sugar Paper
I adore the individuality and quirkiness of this 'Ashley' set by Low Country Press

{Romance} Take one dress
Searching for inspiration for my own big day, I was browsing Merci New York's blog and was distracted by the post on the Monique Lhuillier Spring 2012 collection. I fell in love with the 'Aphrodite' dress - no giveaways, there's no hint of the dress I've really chosen - and took a flight of fancy imagining the day that the Aphrodite bride would have. And here's my round-up:
... art deco inspiration of the finer details of stationery, cake and styling
... a classic 'up do'
... a stylish getaway car
... elegant mini bottles of fizz for guests
... simple flowers and candles

{mood} Romance ....
The beauty of Kendells is in how stepping foot inside this restaurant makes you feel. With a personal welcome, the backdrop of fairy lights and flickering candlelight, retro French posters adorning the walls and with romantic French music lulling diners, you could be in a chic little restaurant in the back streets of Paris. And I've not even got started on the food!
Even the simplest things are done beautifully at Kendells. Fresh hunks of baguette and butter are plentiful on the table whilst you peruse the chalkboard and once you've made your choice, attentive staff surprise you with amuse bouche - the greedy in me always wants more!! I devoured Salade de Chevre* and (post-question popping) picked at Seabass fillet and green vegetables, whilst we supped on Chablis. Nerves not withstanding, no dessert this time in place of some French fizz*.
Aside from the many wedding thoughts whirling around my head, the whole experience has me a little caught up with a romantic French notion. Me and my new fiance hopping on a moped and nipping through the streets to find some secluded spot to enjoy fresh bread, smelly cheese and a bottle of Malbec and really let it sink in ..... I'm getting married!
*Debit: Way too much bread and way too much celebratory fizz
